Hey Everyone!
Wow what a week it has been....it's been a very interesting week at that.  In fact this email might just be a little shorter then usual.  This week we got an awesome new companion!! Sister Zemp...I told a little bit about her in my last email, but she is awesome:)  She is from Canada and I love this girl.  We are def going to be friends after the mission!  She has such a strong spirit and brings so much into our companionship.  I love the age change!! The perspective on Sister Missionaries is so good now!...Not that it wasn't before...it's just even better.  We spent Wed (our first official day together as a companionship) just like a regular missionary day.  Then that night we play soccer together as a ward (it's supposed to be a finding activity).  So I went out to play...I love soccer!  I'm not good at it but I love playing it because it lets me run.  Anyways...I thought I could be professional and try to do some weird move over the ball..ummmm bad idea! I fell right on my ankle and instant pain when through my foot!  The whole ward was around me and I felt so dumb but all I could do was cry.  Sister Keyes, Zemp, and I all had to go to the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson and we didn't leave until 1 a.m.  I felt successful still haha because i was able to bear my testimony to a nurse and share with her a scripture Ether 12:27 where weak things become strong if they humble themselves before the lord.  Haha I only shared it with her one cause I was on drugs..and 2 because she had to redo my cast 3 times.  I don't really think this sweet nurse knew what she was doing.  It was a great experience.  However, this week has been different.  It's a miracle in itself that Sister Zemp got put with us Tuesday and this event happened on Wednesday.  Now because of this awesome trio...Keyes and Zemp are able to go out in the field and work while I get babysat by a ward member.  I love my ward so much!! I am going to be so sad when I have to leave it.
Everyone has been so nice and kind.  Its honestly been really hard for me to accept all this help from everyone.  Especially my two amazing companions.  I get to be with a ward member everyday this week.  I love the families here and each one makes me feel as if I am home.  I remember when I first got to Clinton I was so overwhelmed with the ward and wanted to get to know everyone.  Well, now things are different!! I know everyone's names as if it were natural and I don't want to leave.  I love the people in Clinton they are my home away from home.  The mission is amazing and instead of doing missionary work dealing with finding...I get to do missionary work for the members and that's good enough for me.  I am a firm believer that everything truly does happen for a reason and I know that this incident happened for a reason and I am to learn greatly from it.  It's been such a roller coaster of a week that I am very anxious to heal soon and get back to working even harder.  This gospel is amazing!  This is the only way to eternal happiness.  I strive to always keep the lord first in my life and the lord is truly molding me into the woman he needs me to be when I get home.  I love y'all so much!! Thank you for the great support.
Talk to you next week.

Hey everyone!!
Wow what an amazing week!! It truly was incredible and I am so thankful I am serving a mission in Mississippi. First news is first...I am now training two ladies!! I am in a trio:) There is Sister Keyes who is finishing up her training, and Sister Zemp who is from Canada and she is beautiful and we couldn't be more excited to be serving with her. I know she is going to love Clinton. We will see how this goes...haha I looked at president and asked him if he was sure about this and he grabs my arms looking me straight in the eyes and says, "Sister Jenkins, of course I'm sure." Clinton Mississippi is truly the place for me right now!! There are so many changes and the south's hearts are truly being softened.
Thursday as everyone knows was the big day of the week!! We were spending Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday tracting and inviting people to come. What a turn out. Two of our investigators came and we were able to sit by them. The fireside was amazing!! I love Gladys Knight. Who would of thought I would have felt so "southern" in our own church. People in the chapel were clapping, singing, and standing when they felt the spirit. The church has never been so full of people. The crowd went clear to the back of the gym. There were many baptists during this event and I loved it. People randomly shouting amen...I even stood with D when she would really feel the spirit. It was funny because Gladys and her husband used to be baptists and they were singing all of these songs with her choir that are not found in the hymn book. You could tell that everyone was loving it. The majority of the crowd knew every single song! Except those that were raised in the LDS church hahaha...but then you could tell the songs the members knew. It defiantly gave a little edge to our music. Which is exactly how the south likes it and how Gladys likes it. Personally I loved it!! Getting up clapping along having a good uplifting night with those that are of different races and religions was amazing. My favorite "baptist" song was Smile! haha all the missionaries took advantage of standing and clapping and the deal was if one stood up we all stood. Sure enough...the missionaries got the crowd to stand just by standing first.
My favorite part of the entire night was the testimonies that were shared. It was a night full of missionary work! One speaker basically gave the entire restoration lesson in 10 min to the entire crowd. I don't remember his name but these words never leave my mind, "For those of you who are hear listening this message of the restored gospel is the single most important message of your life and I would suggest you listen and take action." It was amazing! Then Bro. McDowell got up to speak. He is Gladys Knights husband. His testimony was my favorite. He could relate to all of the people in there! He was a baptist before so he understood exactly where all of these people are coming from. My favorite line of the night from him, "When I was praying to find out if the Book of Mormon was true I sincerely asked this question, Out of all the people to give your church to.....why did you have to give it to a little white boy?" The entire crowd was laughing...."Then after repeating this question multiplier times...I got my answer, I didn't give it to a little white boy, I gave it to your brother. Brothers and Sisters I got my answer that it is true. All of it. We are not hear trying to convert you we are hear to give you a message and it is up to you to take action of this message. You are responsible for listening to this message, and you are responsible for doing something about it." It was amazing!! Then when Gladys got up I loved it because she started talking about her conversion story and she kept talking about how everyone should have the upmost respect for all the missionaries. Then she said, "in fact I bet these men on bicycles and ladies in skirts are in here right now. They are my friends and if you have any questions about the message that we have shared tonight these amazing people who are in the prime of their lives can deliver it to you and your life will be better then it ever has before. My missionary friends, stand up all y'all." We all stood up and it was amazing!! The entire crowd started clapping! Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, etc....people were clapping for us in both sessions. It was incredible and I almost started to cry. That was defiantly my favorite part and our investigators could not have had a bigger smile on their face.
At the end of the night there were a ton of referral cards given to all of the missionaries and Sister Keyes has had a lot of success with visiting each of these people. One of them (He.. R....) is so accepting and I was in awe at the fact she let us in her home so willingly. She has a baptism date and I know she is so ready and willing for this gospel to enter her life. Do...and De..... both know our message is true. We Do.....has been to church the last 3 weeks and loves it.
There was one referral in our area--he lives 45 min away (Clinton Sisters area is big) and we had know idea how we were even going to make it out there! So we prayed hard that one of the relief society ladies would give us one because we knew that we had to visit this man named Ce..... Well...in the middle of Sunday school a man walks in. Hi I'm Ce....and I'm investigating the church, I had a feeling I needed to come here today!! It was amazing! Instead of going clear out to Utica...Utica came to us. And the best part is we gave him a church tour and he is playing basketball with the men in our ward and he's in Clinton 4 out of the 7 days a week and one of those days is Sundays! It's perfect! God's hand is amazing and he truly knows each of his children.
It's been such an amazing week...words can't even describe the feeling I feel. I go to bed constantly thinking about the people out here. I love it--thinking of others is so much better then thinking about myself. Charity is the pure love of Christ and I am thankful I am beginning to understand the big picture. I have so much to learn but I know and am that second witness to Bro. McDowell--This message is true. The gospel is true--there is not one doubt about it in my mind.
I hope that y'all really take advantage of what utah has at home. We are members!! We are members of the only true church on earth--we have the restored gospel, the priesthood, and the Book of Mormon. What a lucky people we are. We are the saints in these latter days gathering together Israel. God's promises will be fulfilled! I can't express my love enough for him. I love my Heavenly Father, and I am walking with my brother, Savior, and redeemer Jesus Christ out here. It's an honor and I'm realizing it more and more everyday. Obedience brings blessings and salvation. I have never been happier. I love being here. The person I was at home is still with me however...my standards are always growing higher and higher..this mission is truly molding me into the person I need to be. Anyways, I hope y'all had a good week. Don't forget that faith is a power! Keep it growing. I love you so much thank you for you constant love and support.

Hey Everyone!!
It was such a good week in the mission field!! It was great to be able to see my family for mothers day!! It made it so I can do the next 7 months. I can't believe how quickly time continues to fly but I know one thing I am suppose to be here without a doubt.
This week was a little bit crazy. Sister Keyes and I are trying to save miles. We are going to have so many referrals after this Gladys Knight event that if we used all of our miles that would just be a poor decision. So we "budgeted" our miles...which required us to have to bike all day for two days in a row. Well...that's exactly what we did!! The hills in MS are a little crazy..Up and down up and down. But it was a great experience none the less.
There was a prank pulled on Sister Keyes..Finally a prank pulled on someone else besides me! She had to use Elder Green's bike because she doesn't have one yet. But she didn't have a helmet so we asked them to drop off the helmet at our place while we were out working. When we got back We looked down at this helmet and honestly it was the ugliest helmet i had ever seen, but I never said anything. It was a "skater" helmet and I thought, "Poor Sister Keyes...I already feel like a dork riding around all day on my bike in a skirt, with my gps surround wrapped to my bike..but now she has to wear this ugly helmet." But since it was all we had she wore it. I couldn't help but laugh--we get home Tuesday night and we get a txt from one of our ward members telling us to look in the cupboard about our laundry.. sure enough there was a normal looking helmet. It was sooo funny!! She laughed it off and we went about the rest of the night.
I learned that we def need to plan our wear abouts geographically just like we do with a car...haha it was so tiring! We went back and forth back and forth all day. I felt like the worst trainer ever! I didn't even think about planning it out geographically....I thought my legs could take me everywhere and back! I didn't even think that it would be difficult I was just excited to get on my bike...three hours later..I thought...well hey at least we got good exercise despite my lack of being able to plan our route so we could not be as tired.
Anyways this week have been doing a lot of tracting trying to get everyone excited and ready for Gladys Knight!! I know its going to be an amazing experience and its going to change a lot of lives!! It will be a wonderful night to remember. Its critical that we get people there!
We had a really cool experience of praying about where to go tracting and when we prayed then looked at the map Sister Keyes and I pointed to the same place. We went there and a lady really needed us this day. Turns out her mom got hit by a car and we arrived just in time to talk with her and pray with her family. She is going to come to Gladys Knight and her mother thankfully is now doing better. It was an amazing and spiritually led experience.
p.s....do you all know the picture with the Elders and Karl Malone...well three of those missionaries are our missionaries in Mississippi!! It's Elder Brinkerhoff, Elder Bendel, and Elder Anderson. Fun fact.
D...... came to church again!! it was great to have her and I felt Sister Keyes and I are really being blessed through our obedience and hard work in gathering people together for this event. I love being a missionary--I really do it means the world to me and I love the people out here. I know this is the gospel and to my sweet family I loved praying with you even if I am thousands of miles away. It was a spiritual experience to remember and I will never ever forget it. Mom I love you and I hope you had a wonderful mothers day.
This is the gospel of Jesus Christ! He is truly the head of our church.
You all be safe and I'll talk to you next week!

Hey everyone!!
Wow what a week it has been. I can't believe it's already pday and here I am at the computer emailing again. I miss you all. But the relationships and everything I am learning and gaining out here couldn't be replaced. I love my mission and I love what I do.
Wednesday we spent a lot of time tracting. I was honestly tired and sweaty haha it was great! We met some very interesting people as usual. There was one lady that said she has had multipule Mormon friends and she knows all there is to know about mormons. She was bashing Joseph Smith....(the normal.) Anyways at the end of the conversation she looks at us and says...I hope y'all are serving because you want to and not because it's expected. Haha I just looked at her and laughed. I am serving a mission because I want to and I know the words I say are true. She smiled and said, "Well, Good luck to y'all." The next person we met was sitting on her front pourch and started talking of how years ago, she met two sister mormon missionaries and a half hour later they left her husband died!! I was like what?! So as my mouth was dropped open I looked and said, "well I hope you don't think he died because of them." she laughed and said, "oh honey I know it wasn't because of those two cute girls." So we taught her the Plan of Salvation and we have an appt scheduled with her this week! It was really funny...my soul started to panic as she told that really sad story about her husband.
D.... is still progressing it is awesome!! We were able to really teach her the Plan of Salvation this week. She understands it--it is all making sense to her and she loves her bible. Her comprehension of everything she reads is amazing. We found out this week that she has been to prison before and she was changed when she found Jesus Christ. She loves us coming over because she feels it's right. She still isn't ready to come to church which is hard because she full on admitted to us that there is nothing holding her back to come to church! She just isn't ready--I know she will come though!!
Friday we got to become a trio with Sister Benjamin. She was a visa waiter going to Australia. It was so much fun doing missionary work with her. I learned a lot as well and we had fun.
On Saturday the twins (Brianna and Brooklyn) got baptized. It was a great baptism. I was able to play the piano and I sang a duet with Jenni. I love the ward I am in. I learn so much from the members here. They all have such a good desire to serve God and I couldn't be more thankful for their love and example. I really feel like I belong here, and I love it.
Sunday was great:) I love Sundays! They are super busy but I really love it. Every Sunday we get to go sing at the hospital for Bro. Pat. He is so funny because he always requests Popcorn popping as the last song. We get into the song haha you would laugh. During church the missionaries get up and make announcements to get the ward excited about missionary work. With Gladys Knight coming everyone is getting extremely excited about inviting nonmembers. Anyways one of the announcements that we randomly had to say was a surprise bible study! Remember last week how Do.....said she would come to bible class? Well...she gave us her schedule and if she won't read the BOM or come to church then we will have (at her request) a bible class. So she texted us Saturday asking when it was and we randomly said, "Sunday at 3:30!" She said okay. Well we made this announcement and two ladies decided they would come. It was great. So 3:30 comes around and no Do......I knew we wouldn't be leaving the church without a class today. So we waited...and waited...only two ladies came...Sister Tr...and Sister D.... We waited...finally I called Do.... She said, "I'm at home waiting for y'all!" haha Do.....thought it would be at her apt even though we told her it would be at the church and gave her the address. But needless to say, Do..... came!! It was a spiritual highlight of the week. It could not have been set up more perfectly. These two sisters had so much in common in their conversion story with Do.... They bore testimony and at the end Do..... bore hers with tears in her eyes on why she knew she was suppose to be here today. She loved the entire class. We studied from the Bible, and then of course we brought in the BOM. We read Moroni Chpt 10:) It was planned very tactfully that morning:) We read from 1Cor 12 and it related perfectly with spritiual gifts found in Chapter 10 of Moroni. I even planned it out so Do....... had to read out loud Moroni's promise! While she read she marked her BOM! First time her BOM has been marked ever! I love watching the light her her eyes glisten as she learns more and more.
It was a very good week. I enjoyed being with Sister Benjamin and Sister Keyes this week. We all learned so much from one another and we had to say our goodbyes to Sister Benjamin today. She is going to love Australia and I know she made a pit stop in the south for a reason. Anyways, I love what I am doing. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I am so thankful for him. He strengthens me in all things!
Have a good week! I sure love you.
Love Sister Jenkins
